Malena grew up in Cuba. At an early age, Malena was placed in the care of an evangelical Christian family, where she was consecrated to the Lord as a child. At age eight, she accepted Jesus Messiah as her Lord and Savior. It was at this time in her life that she prayed for God to bless her and allow her to develop her gifts in music.
At age ten, Malena started her musical training.
In 2010, after graduating with a Bachelor’s in Music in Voice Performance, in addition to opera, she started to sing Hebrew music. She became the first professional singer and piano player of Hebrew International music in her country. Many doors opened to share with Cuban Jewish people in the Sephardic Synagogue in Havana. By divine appointment with her biological father, she learned of her Jewish heritage through her paternal side.
In 2012, the Lord made a way for Malena to study at Christ For the Nations Institute (CFNI) in the United States and she moved to Dallas, Texas. Subsequently, after she completed her program at CFNI, she was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a Master’s Degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS) in Fort Worth, Texas. She is the first Cuban to graduate with honors from SWBTS and in 2016 she graduated with a Master in Voice Performance. In addition to graduating with honors, Malena received the Outstanding Performer of the Year Certificate, in 2016.
Malena is a passionate worship leader, singer, pianist, composer, and currently serves as a Music Director in a church in New Jersey. Malena has performed around the United States, in Brooklyn, DC area, Chicago, New York, Florida, Maine, and overseas in Austria, Spain, Venezuela, Israel, and Cuba. She has earned National and International Voice Competitions.
Malena produced her first Christian Album of her original songs written to the Lord. The name of the CD is My piano and I will serve the Lord. This unique CD is a bilingual work in English and Spanish that will bless the Christian community because it is based on her journey and relationship with Jesus Christ. She accompanies herself on the piano as she sings unto the Lord. The penchant of her heart is to globally share the Gospel with Jewish and Gentile people through, music, song, and teaching.
